A 20 Minute Mini-Shoot and Surprise Bridal Shower.

As you may know, my friend Lindy (also my coworker) is getting married! I’m so happy and excited for her and her fiance, Eric. My work threw Lindy a surprise bridal shower last month. We had a TON of Chinese food, and Cafe Madeleine cake. YUM! So, this is how it all went down. I had to get Lindy out of the office so that she couldn’t see our HR managers set up the kitchen with decorations and food. I was held “responsible” for making sure Lindy didn’t make any lunch plans on this day. I thought it would be a great idea to ask Lindy if she wanted to do another photoshoot. She kindly agreed and it was just a perfect way to distract her and get her out of the office. I couldn’t take her too far away from work so we took photos outside the Bank of America building. I had 20 minutes with her to do this shoot.

This time, we concentrated more on portrait photos rather than use a bunch of props. I think Lindy is just a natural in front of the camera. I used solely my Canon 85mm f/1.8 lens that my best friend gave to me a while back. I’ve never used the lens before and I must say, I am quite impressed with the sharpness and quality of this lens! It’s definitely a keeper!

These are some sample cards that I got. Totally impressed with their card stock quality!

Lindy wanted to wear her “geeky” glasses to show Eric. She was being goofy but I think she totally looks adorable with them on!

SX-70 camera. So vintage! Love it! 🙂

This last photo is definitely one of my favorites from this minishoot! She completely looks like a model! Well, she’s MY model! 😀

In order to trick Lindy into going back to the office, I pretended that I ran out of memory in my camera and that I left my other memory card in the office. We went back to the office and there everyone was, jammed packed inside the kitchen to surprise her with a beautiful bridal shower luncheon! She was completely shocked and overwhelmed with joy. I think everything went pretty smoothly :).

She had one of the most adorable custom coffee cakes from Cafe Madeleine. It was definitely delicious!

Lindy and Eric will  be tying the knot this Saturday at her family’s vineyard. I am so honored to be invited and to help her take some photos at the wedding. Can’t wait! Congratulations to Lindy and Eric!!

Until next time… The next set of “Lindy” photos will be her wedding photos!!! 🙂

Jasmine what a great story. Sounds like your workers are really fun to be with. I used to work at Bank of America in their legal department many years ago now. These are great pix. I can’t afford such a fast lens; I would have to rent one like that I think. I know there is a Pentax version someplace!

Can’t wait to see your style with wedding photos.

Beautiful Portraits. So sharp. And you killed 2 birds with 1 stone there with that mini shoot outing allowing the secret party to get readied.

Great series Jasmine! My favorite is the 3rd from the top. Very natural expression, and very comfortable. Well done!

What a great story with stunning photos, Jas! I really like it. You are absolutely a pro at this, with great energy and eye for style. Your model is glowing with happiness, great shots. So proud of you! Is your 85mm f1.8 a macro lens as well? Can’t wait to see the wedding shots.

      Thanks Diana! 🙂 the 85mm is a portrait lens. I wish I had a macro though! 🙂
